Has anyone had a go on one of these bikes. Seems new to the market. They're a Raptor copy and being sold through Steve's bikes in Midland for about $5500 standard or $6500 with nerf bars and power pipe and a few other trickeries.
Its called a Renegade, its 400cc, and made by a company called MCI - which I haven't been able to find anything about. They're calling it a Raptor copy.
They haven't any in stock at the moment, so I haven't been able to look up close at one.
I've not yet met a chinese quad that didn't need work done on it to make it ride and handle right, but the price is of course right :-)
It took about 8 trips out and a LOT of modifications to finally sort out the kinks in my 250cc Zongshen but now it runs sweet and handles great. Unfortunately I've outgrown it and am craving more power.

Alot of people mock chinese quads but for those on a tight budget and just getting into quads they are perfect, why blow heaps of money on a quad only to find they arent for you . Go for it if it suits you and your budget.

you just have to be o careful with them for there are some out there that are just crud. my mate got one for Chrissy that looks like the 350 raptor and on Chrissy day the chain come off 5 times.and you can see that the engine and sprocket do not line up , so he took it back and the guy said yer thats the way they are and he goes around the block near his place and as soon as he hits rough section it comes off so he is now put off quads , there are also some imports that go well until they get wet. then they stop cough and splatter. so if you do get one just be careful with what brand you get.and also check it for availability on parts for alot of these import places come and go and if they are the only dealer that sell that bike when it brakes were do you get parts from??if your willing to spend 5k to 6k on a quad call the guy mike who id doing the training day and he should be able to do you a good deal.. i have even seen 2005 350 banshees for about $5500 they got plenty of go in them.. but as what daz75 said a cheapy is good if your learning but you have had quads and have out growen what you got. so try the name brand and i think you will be happy with the difference. the only time you spend money on a jab bike is when you break it (like hit a tree) or want it to go faster good luck ;D

We race and do it almost every weekend 9 months of the year, so would definately get a Can-Am or Honda.... Yamaha Suzuki etc I understand that budgets are tight, but a second hand "name" quad could be another option. Unfortunately when selling a quad, the first thing alot ask...."has it been raced" well yes, but its also very well maintained because its raced, valves checked & oil changed every second race day etc etc. everything is maticulously maintained, and its not just Thrashed like buyers think. Oh another thing, usually racers put after market A Arms and Shocks etc on their bikes, and then put the standard ones back on them to sell the quad, so basically theyre new ! there exceptions to this, so look about Theres always ex- race bikes for sale that are 6-12mths old and way below Ticket price. Most of the time they have extras included, that would cost a buyer $1000's to add themselves. I know of a few Yamaha's and Honda's for sale, keep an eye out in the Sunday Times, Auto Trader, online Quokka etc, and make an offer, you may be pleasantly surprised whats around ! I realise theres the otherside, the 1 ride a month people, we used to have a boat like that Keep your options open and take your time buying one.

Its hard to sell a second hand Chinese quad bike, just look in the paper.
If you cant afford new go name brand 2nd hand. You can get parts and they, will sell again 3ed hand.
Some time ago I was driving along and saw a Honda out side this shop. I tune around but its was a look alike Honda. Its look the part, I jumped on the front bumper and started bouncing up and down. The bike only had 2 inches of suspension travel, less than me son blaster. I was then tolled of from the shopkeeper.
Give the Chinese 5-10 years and they maybe a good bike by then.

It gets more interesting :-)
I agree with the idea of buying a secondhand name brand but I'm stuck with just not knowing enough about them to have the confidence to be sure I'm not buying someone else's problem.
I spent the last week or so researching whats required to purchase a quad directly from China. Has anyone else done it?
I'll put a post up with what I've found so far...
